Located 32 miles north of Dallas, US 75 provides commuters a direct path of travel going north and south.  Additional highways traveling east and west through McKinney include Sam Rayburn Tollway (121), and US 380.  McKinney is home to a mix of  industries including medical technology, data management, manufacturing, aviation, defense, transportation and many others.  It is also home to Collin College’s original campus with two additional locations that have since opened. Shopping & Outdoors

Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney is a 289-acre wildlife sanctuary with five miles of hiking trails, about fifty acres of wetlands, a two-acre native plant garden, and butterfly house.  Additional outdoor exhibits include: Dinosaurs Live! featuring life size animatronic dinosaurs.  Pioneer Village features eight buildings in playhouse scale that emulate structures that would have been typical in prairie settlements in the late 1800s.

Adriatica Village in McKinney transports you to cobblestone streets of a quaint European village. You will be mesmerized by the architecture of the buildings, landmark Bell Tower and secluded island chapel. Great location for photo shoots! There is a variety of dining options, shopping and even residential homes and apartments.

Historic Downtown McKinney is a true destination. There are 120 unique shops offering art galleries, furniture stores, antique, gift and home décor shops and apparel boutiques. Collin College & McKinney ISD

Collin College:

McKinney Campus is home to Collin College’s first campus where you will find the nationally recognized Cary A. Israel Health Sciences Center for Collin’s programs in Nursing and Health Sciences.

Collin Higher Education Center is the second McKinney location for Collin College that was created to provide a unique, multi-institutional higher education experience to area students. Five universities offer a variety of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in one convenient, local university center. Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas Woman’s University, The University of Texas at Dallas, The University of North Texas, and Texas Tech University have partnered with Collin College to offer numerous services and amenities to support students.

The Public Safety Training Center opened in the fall of 2018 and serves as the home for the Fire Science and Law Enforcement academies at Collin College. The center also provides expanded training and professional development opportunities for local fire departments and law enforcement agencies.

 

McKinney Independent School District:

McKinney ISD enrolls more than 24,500 students. There are 20 elementary schools serving K-5th, five middle schools serving 6th-8th and  three high schools serving 9th-12th. McKinney ISD has a long-standing reputation for educational excellence, and the district is continually recognized at both the state and national levels.
